Juneteenth

A researched feature topic – June 2021.

Juneteenth represents the commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It is also known as the African American Emancipation Day.

On January 1, 1863, President Lincoln declared the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed slaves. However, due to the small number of troops to enforce The Emancipation Proclamation, the executive order had little impact on Texas at first. It was not until 2 ½ years later that the communication spread throughout Texas.

On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas to spread the word of General Order Number 3, which stated:

“The people of Texas are informed that in accordance with a Proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and hired laborer.” (Juneteenth.com)

Since then, June 19th “…is a day of reflection, a day of renewal, [and] a pride-filled day.  It is a moment in time taken to appreciate the African American experience. It is inclusive of all races, ethnicities and nationalities – as nothing is more comforting than the hand of a friend.” (Juneteenth.com)

Team Bonding

An original feature topic – November 2021.

As we approach the holiday season, think of how you can show appreciation for your Team!

Here are a couple ideas that you can use to kick off the giving season:

Secret Santa Gift Exchange

  • Draw names from a hat at the beginning of December. Use the first few weeks of December to figure out the perfect gift for the person you chose.
  • One by one at your Secret Santa gathering, reveal your secret gift buddy and give them your gift.

Yankee Gift Swap

  • Everyone buys a gift for a set dollar amount.
  • Each participant brings it to your get-together wrapped.
  • Everyone chooses a number from a hat. The first person (who gets #1) chooses a gift to open. The second person can ‘steal’ the gift from the first, or open a new one. The third person can choose any of the open gifts, or open a new one.
  • Each gift can only be stolen a set number of times; most often, each item is limited to 2 or 3 steals. If a person has a gift stolen from them, they get to open a new present.

Company Based Holiday Trivia Gift Exchange

  • Everyone buys a gift for a set dollar amount.
  • Each participant brings it to your get-together wrapped.
  • Create a company based Holiday Trivia game.
  • As each person gets a correct answer, they get to choose a wrapped present. If they get more than one question right, they can pass off their gift to another person of their choice (or steal/swap a gift).

Help Drive Holiday Traffic!

An original feature topic – November 2021.

As we know, traffic is one of our most important KPIs. Traffic is the source of meeting our sales plan, conversion, UPT, and ADS. However, it’s also the most difficult to control because it’s out of our control – or is it?

Below are some tips for taking control of what may seem uncontrollable. Read more to find out how to get traffic on your side and spike up those KPIs!

Word of Mouth

Do you have a favorite product that just arrived in your store? Is there an awesome sale happening that you think no one should miss? Tell people about it! Whether it’s your favorite barista at Starbucks, or a friendly stranger at the food court, spreading the word about your store is going to spark some interest.

Social Media

Our communication team provides Social Media assets during VIP Events, but you don’t have to wait for those to drive traffic into your store from your socials. Share some of our Instagram posts on your story and let your followers know you have specific products in your store! Show off new products, post weekly promotions, and let them know about available coupons!

Friends and Family

Tell your friends and family about your store! You can only spread the word so much, but if you have your friends and family spreading the word, too, new customers are bound to visit!
